Trekking & Hiking Shoes

Please follow the care instructions sewn into the product.

  • How do I impregnate my shoes? none
    • Shoes should be completely dry before impregnation. All shoe materials can be impregnated with the FOOTWEAR PROOFER.
    • Done in three, easy steps
    • Preparation:

Take the insole out, so that it can dry and air out as well. If you want to wax your shoes, then take the laces out as well.
    • Exterior/mechanical cleaning:

Loosen and remove coarse dirt under running water with a brush and remove any dirt and stones from the sole.
    • Interior/hygiene:

Your shoes can also be cleaned on the inside with lukewarm water and a brush. Linings which do not feature TEXAPORE can be cleaned with soap but lining with TEXAPORE should only be cleaned with water. The insole can be washed with lukewarm water and soap.
  • Can I wash my shoes in the washing machine? none
    • No.Click here to learn how to clean your shoes correctly.
  • How can I dry my shoes? none
    • Shoes with a wet lining can be stuffed with newspaper.
Dry shoes remain in great shape by using wooden shoe trees.
It is important to re-impregnate the shoes as soon as they are completely dry.
    • ATTENTION!

Do not dry in direct sunlight or on heat sources such as radiators and boilers. Wet leather is very sensitive to heat and therefore burns more easily (becoming brittle, hard and cracked as a result).

  • My shoe soles are slippery, what can I do? none
    • The soles on newly bought shoes may be slightly slippery due to the silicone residue left by the impregnating agent. You can roughen the sole slightly to counteract this (e.g. with sandpaper, on loose chipping or asphalt). Good rubber will become hardened on the surface by doing this. Repeat this process from time to time as required.
  • Out and about with my shoes - what do I need to consider? none
    • Perspiration is a big problem when you are on a long trip. A leather lining is able to absorb large quantities of moisture, only releasing it gradually. Modern synthetic fibers and sole linings wick moisture away from the feet. As such, all footwear, whether it is lined with leather or synthetic fibers, must be well-aired every night so that any moisture can evaporate. Leave the shoes open, remove the insole and air it separately.
    • To protect against water penetrating the material, the shoes should be well waterproofed before you set off. Shoes without a weatherproof membrane can also get completely soaked from time to time. In such cases, the tried-and-tested method of stuffing the shoes with scrunched-up newspaper can work wonders. It is important to re-waterproof the shoes as soon as they are completely dry.
    • CAUTION!

Do not dry shoes by a campfire or stove flame because the heat may affect the material.
  • What should I consider when purchasing leather shoes? none
    • Leather shoes must be regularly maintained:
You can care for smooth leather and unroughened leather effectively by using FOOTWEAR BEESWAX to carry out a practical care routine and impregnation.
You can use wax to protect the hooks and eyelets from corroding.
